Deepwater Horizon Oil Platform
This 3D model was created for the winning entry into the 2021 SIESO Medal competition, organised by the Institution for Chemical Engineers (IChemE). It depicts the Deepwater Horizon Platform as it would have been before the tragic 2010 disaster. High attention to detail is paid to the modelling of the blowout preventer which played a key role in the accident. For more information about the oil rig as well as the events of 2010, please read our article in the Loss Prevention Bulletin.
TEMA AES Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger
This is a cutaway view of a shell and tube heat exchanger, designed for petroleum applications. I designed this model for one of my 3rd year courseworks for my Chemical Engineering Course. The design is a TEMA AES exchanger with 1 shell pass and four tube passes, is 16 foot long and features 156 Tubes with a 1 inch diameter. This model was created as a CAD model in Fusion 360 and imported into 3DS max.
