Low Carbon Hydrogen Production via the Sorption-Enhanced Reaction Process

Sorption enhanced steam methane reforming (SE-SMR) shows promise as a method of in-situ CO2 capture within the SMR process using a solid sorbent. A two-step model simulating the isothermal adsorption of CO2 and H2O in a fixed bed using hydrotalcite (HTC) sorbent has been developed. Four …read more

Design of Steam Reformer using Ni-based Catalyst for Hydrogen Production

The aim of the report is to produce a viable design of a steam reformer with the output capacity of 400tH2/day. The overall reaction kinetics of the SR reactions are explored, and the catalyst is selected (Ni/Al2O3). Overall mass and energy balances confirm the throughput at feed conditions of …read more

Simulation of a Steam Reforming Plant using HYSYS

Hydrogen production has seen a steady increase in demand over the last decades. With this increase, there exists a need to analyse H2 plants through means such as process simulation. In the present work a Steam Reforming Hydrogen plant was modelled in Aspen HYSYS© using Natural Gas as feedstock, producing a final H2 purity of 99.9% at 400+ t/day. Reaction kinetics were considered within the Steam Reformer. The Shift section consists of High Temperature Shift operating at 500⁰C, and …read more
